We recently had visitors from one of our neighboring schools, McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. Jason Abraham, the teacher of two 11th grade Morality classes at McGill-Toolen, brought his students over to our Home for a hands-on opportunity to learn about treating life with dignity. He thought the students would appreciate how much our Little Sisters value and respect the elderly. The class had just covered the fifth Commandment and was talking about the inherent dignity of life. Jason thought they would get a real-life example of that teaching by coming to volunteer with our Residents.
While some students helped serve Residents in the dining hall for lunch, others moved items to our storage sheds and planted flowers in one of our courtyards. We were happy to see the young men and women so willing to serve, and we were glad that the school allowed them the opportunity to come volunteer during the school day!
