After a group visits our Home, we often get calls from those people asking if there is anything they can do to help. People know that the Home exists and that religious Sisters care for people here, but most don’t really understand the mission of the Little Sisters until they visit. Once they understand the mission, many people want to offer their support.
We recently received a call from a Mrs. Katie Bonner letting us know that her son, Braxton, had put on an art show to raise money for the Home. We were very happy for the support and donation, but we were shocked when we learned that Braxton was only 7 years old. He visited the Home with his class from St. Mary’s School earlier in the year, and told his mom that he wanted to help out the Residents. He made paintings and other works of art and spread the word throughout his neighborhood. The art show raised over $200 which he donated to the Home.
We know that Braxton is in a special situation to be able to raise that much money for the Home, and we are truly grateful for what he did. But, what is even more special in our eyes is that he wanted to help the Residents and did not let any perceived limitations stop him. The spirit of St. Jeanne Jugan lives in him.
Thank you, Braxton, for your gift and support. We are praying for you and ask God’s blessing upon you.
