The Little Sisters of the Poor celebrate St. Joseph’s feast day with a unique tradition. Little Sisters of the Poor Homes often invite the local bishop or archbishop to celebrate Mass in their chapel and spend time in service to the elderly Residents in their care. Additional priests from the local area are also invited to participate.
The Little Sisters have a special bond with St. Joseph and honor him as their patron and protector. Their mission of care imitates the same spirit of service to family that Joseph so lovingly provided in his daily life with Jesus and Mary.
This year, the Little Sisters and Residents of Sacred Heart welcomed Archbishop Thomas Rodi, Archbishop of Mobile, as their special guest on St. Joseph’s feast day. The Archbishop happily joined the Sisters, staff and volunteers to serve dinner and share friendship and joy with our family of God’s oldest children.
