Sacred Heart Residence is often blessed with local groups and organizations who visit our Residents to offer companionship and joy. A group that visited recently threw in a bit of southern hospitality as well. Our Residents raised in the South undoubtedly have fond memories of Sunday fried chicken dinners with all the fixins shared with a table full of friends and family.
Thanks to the St. Thomas By the Sea chapter of The Men of St. Joseph and their wives, the fried chicken Sunday dinner was recreated for our Residents with new friends and family dropping by. The menu included the Southern staples – fried chicken, potato salad, macaroni and cheese and even apple pie for dessert. The meal was a treat but the most important blessing shared was the joy and friendship offered to our Residents. Happy times were remembered and new memories were made. The Men of St. Joseph (and their wives) are family now and always welcome for Sunday dinner!“The basis of joy for Jesus was to do the will of the Father. As men of St. Thomas By the Sea Catholic Church, we are called to make a difference and live and love like Jesus. To love our neighbor as ourselves, to go and share the gospel, to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and visit the prisoner. We are grateful and privileged to feed the elderly poor on this day and ask the Lord to bless the Little Sisters of the Poor and to fill their household with all His spiritual blessings.”
