It happens almost every day. Just across the hall from the development office, I hear cheering, and laughter and music. I hear the sound of enjoyment. There is something very infectious about it. No matter what challenges we are facing, those sounds are uplifting and change the “tone” of our day. When I walk over, I see the faces of people having a good time. Whether it is arts and crafts, bowling, bingo or singing, our residents, staff members and volunteers improve the world around them.
When St. Jeanne Jugan, our foundress, speaks of spreading joy, many of us assume that it all comes from the Sisters, staff and the volunteers to the residents. I’ve been privileged to see so many cases of that joy coming from the residents to other residents, and to the staff and Sisters. If you haven’t visited Sacred Heart Residence, there is no better time than now. Come soon and share our joy!
