As all of the beautiful Christmas decorations were taken down after the celebration of the Baptism of Our Lord, we continued reflecting on the wonderful weeks that have been overflowing with joy and edification by so many people who have made this Christmas season here at Sacred Heart Residence so beautiful and unforgettable. It was indeed a joyful time of excitement, expectation and anticipation as our family experienced Emmanuel coming to us though many varied and meaningful people. Our Residents enjoyed different groups coming to our Home, sharing Christmas cheer, and making the Residents happy. Among the many groups volunteering their time and bearing gifts were carolers from Mobilians on Bikes, students fromSt. Ignatius School with homemade treats, and the staff of Home Instead Senior Care with a personal gift for each Resident through their “Be a Santa to a Senior” program. Reilly Terrell, continuing the Smith family’s long standing tradition of Christmas donations, brought in funds for the Sisters to purchase each Resident a gift as well. Many of our Residents and Sisters also traveled to the Dorgan’s Inn in Point Clear for a special Christmas luncheon given by Billy and Patty Dorgan.
Thanks to God’s grace and Divine Providence, manifested through our many benefactors and friends, we truly had a blessed and extremely joyful Christmas here at Sacred Heart Residence. Our prayer is that you and your loved ones also had a Merry Christmas, as blessed and joyful as you made ours. May God’s faithfulness and goodness assure you at the beginning of this New Year, that the light and love of Christ’s presence will continue guiding you as surely as the star guided the wise men to the humble stable of Bethlehem! May God bless you and may you know that our family at the Little Sisters of the Poor will be remembering all your intentions in our prayers each day of 2012!
