Recently, many professional golfers, fans, and media came to Mobile for the LPGA tour. Here at Sacred Heart Residence, we were happy to hear that we were one of only two organizations selected to have a visit from some of the golfers. Katherine Hull and Mo Martin were specially picked by the LPGA to visit our home. Katherine was on a mission trip to Africa to help the poor. Mo’s grandfather is 100 years old and travels to nearly all of her tournaments to support her.
We were expecting only a short visit, maybe fifteen minutes, and we wanted to show our guests a slice of life of our home. Because we have several Residents who used to golf, we thought it would be fun to challenge Katherine and Mo to a game of Wii Golf. Wii Golf is a video game in which you have to swing the controller like a golf club in order to play the game. Our Residents really enjoy it.
After a warm reception in our lobby, Katherine and Mo went to our Activities room to accept the challenge. Our own Mr. Pat Thompson and Mrs. Ronnie Morrison were there ready to represent all of our Residents.
It was a battle of youth versus experience. Everyone was giving it their all to secure the win for their generation. At the end of the day, experience won out as Mrs. Morrison finished in first with even par and Mr. Thompson finished one over par. Both Katherine and Mo finished two over par.
Everyone here at the home thoroughly enjoyed Katherine and Mo’s visit. They are two very caring individuals who genuinely enjoyed spending time at our home. In fact, that fifteen minutes we were expecting them to stay lasted over an hour. We took them on a short tour of the home, showing them some of our Residents’ favorite places to go such as the chapel and courtyard. Katherine and Mo took the time to visit with every Resident they happened to meet. Our prayers are with them during their time in Mobile and in all of their future endeavors. Katherine and Mo, you are welcome back any time you are in Mobile.
