Sr. Cecilia, our Volunteer Coordinator Lise Lirette, and Public Relations Coordinator Kristin Coker attended an Expo for young professionals called “Engaging the Next Generation” at the Mobile Museum of Art. Sponsored by the City of Mobile every January, the event features a showcase of non-profit organizations with the goal of providing opportunities for young adults to become involved in community service. The Little Sisters were one of 65 groups at the event. Our display included a picture board, moon pies with our new local web site address, and handouts, such as brochures, newsletters, and copies of Serenity magazine. A spinning wheel highlighting pictures and facts about our Home also was a big hit! The event was a great outreach opportunity, and many young adults signed up to learn more about the Little Sisters and our mission, as well as to volunteer at our Home. We also enjoyed meeting many people who knew former Residents or had volunteered in high school and wanted to return. What a joy to see so many young professionals committed to helping others! Pictured is Volunteer Coordinator Lise Lirette with attendee Austin Bradford as they talk about his interests and volunteer opportunities at the home to fit his schedule.
