Dear Families and Friends,

It has been quite some time since we have posted a pandemic update but we are happy to do so now, thankful that things are going well here at Sacred Heart Home.

As you may know, in July we had an outbreak of COVID-19, despite our best efforts to keep it out of our Home. On July 6, 2020 2 employees and 1 Resident tested positive for the virus. Although we are COVID-free at this time, following the July onset we have had a total of 18 Residents and 28 employees test positive for COVID.

To our great sorrow 2 Residents died of COVID-related complications; we continue to support their families with our daily prayers.

The last 3 rounds of COVID testing have yielded negative results for Residents, Staff and Little Sisters. For the last 37 days our Home has been COVID-free and there have been no Residents on the COVID unit.

Thanks to this “negative” status and following the protocol of the Alabama Public Health Department, we are now authorized to have limited indoor visitation for our Residents and their families. These visits began on 10/8/20 and were a source of great happiness for them.

If you would like to arrange for an in-person visit with your loved one in the Home, please contact Tanya Haynes, our Activities Director, to arrange visits. We are having them every morning from 10-10:30 and 10:45-11:15 and every afternoon from 4-4:30 and 4:45-5:15, every day of the week.

Our next testing date will be on 10/19/20 and hopefully we will once again be negative for the virus. Please join us in praying that Sacred Heart Home will remain COVID-free and that all of our dear Residents will flourish despite the difficult circumstances in which we are living due the pandemic.

We Little Sisters also pray for you and your families, and for our country at this important moment in our history.

Sincerely,
Mother Judith, l.s.p.
