Volunteers at Sacred Heart Residence are often the reason behind the smiling faces of our Residents as well as helping hands to our Little Sisters and staff contributing to the day-to-day operation of the Home. On Manicure Day in the Activities Department, volunteer Margret Ellison spends time with the ladies needing a little touch-up color on their nails or simply to feel a hand holding theirs. She feels it “gives them an opportunity to share things, express themselves, reminisce and remember.” Since her mother, Mrs. Ellie Livings, became a Resident of the Home, Margret and her 4 brothers – Alvin, Ken, Ronnie and Glenn Wilson, have all volunteered their time at several events and contribute weekly to the Home’s wish list of needs. The time and caring our volunteers share with the Residents fills our Home with love and joy every day. Additional volunteers are urgently needed to help with activities, meal-serving, laundry-folding and one-on-one visiting with Residents. Hours are available to fit all schedules, and the number one skill required is a caring heart. If you have a little time to spare, we would love to have you share the joy we experience each day when a lonely face lights up just because you said hello.
