The Residents at Sacred Heart are always ready for a good party and our recent Spring Fling Dance/Coronation was a good time waiting to happen. It had to wait several months to happen but happen it did! Back in February, all was in place to crown our Mardi Gras Court members – Queen Virginia Mroczka, King Pat Thompson and their entire court of ladies-in-waiting, knights and of course, a jester. Gowns were picked out, crowns and scepters polished and trains designed and decorated. The kingdom of Sacred Heart annually crowns its own version of Mardi Gras royalty in splendid style to celebrate the season but this year didn’t quite work out as planned. Various winter illnesses hit our Home hard and we just couldn’t seem to find a date when everybody was well enough to participate. The celebration was postponed but not forgotten. Since every queen must have her day, Coronation Day became Spring Fling! Round 2 – crowns and scepters polished, trains fluffed and dancing shoes dusted off. The queen was resplendent in her royal blue gown and the king performed his crowning duties beautifully. Once the official duties were performed, the dancing began. Residents and volunteers took turns around the dance floor to celebrate the fun times and fun-loving Residents of Sacred Heart.
